ABOUT
Who we are
WORKING TOWARDS A BETTER TOMORROW
Our Story
Paws It Forward Dog Rescue began in November 2011, when two friends who met in a pet store discovered the heartbreaking reality of animals being euthanized in high-kill California shelters to make space. Determined to help, and with the support of friends and family, they rescued over 50 dogs that first year, finding each one a loving home. As their network of supporters grew, so did their ability to save more lives. Today, thanks to the dedication of countless volunteers and foster families, Paws It Forward rescues and rehomes hundreds of neglected, abandoned, and abused dogs from around the world every year.
Funding & Facility
Our focus is our dogs; we do not allocate any funds for staff, and use all donations towards vet care, supplies, transportation and dog food.
Our entire Board of Directors volunteers their time and skills to ensure each and every dog that joins our program receives all the care they need.
We fundraise to cover all our expenses with no government funding. Currently we do not have a facility, or overhead costs.
All our dogs live in loving foster homes until adopted.
We are a registered charity (#837539030 RR 0001).

WHAT DRIVES US
Our Mission
Here at Paws It Forward, we are driven by a single goal; to do our part in making the world a better place for our canine friends.
Every dog deserves a chance to have a better life.
Every dog deserves to be treated humanely.
It doesn’t matter where they come from, what breed they are, or what size they may be.
We are their voice.

what we do
RESCUING PETS
Our motto is that we do not discriminate against dogs based on age, breed, or location. We believe every dog deserves a happy forever home, which is why we rescue dogs both inside, and outside of, the Okanagan.
FINDING PETS A HOME
We do not euthanize to "make space". We work hard to find potential applicants, even if it takes a long time. Some dogs have stayed in our program for over a year. We want to make the right match - Not a quick adoption.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Volunteers are an integral part of our rescue. We are all volunteers and we are always looking for more help! Volunteering is a great way to help the animals, have fun and meet like-minded people.
EDUCATE
It's important to know how to care for a dog. We love visiting local schools to talk about our rescue animals and educate future pet owners on what it entails. We promote force free training methods as well as spaying and neutering.
